Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy left Friday’s spring training game against the Tigers after he was hit on the right hand by David Price. There’s some early good news, as ESPN’s Adam Rubin reports: preliminary results have come up negative.
If Murphy were to miss any significant amount of time, the Mets likely would have relied on Dilson Herrera. Fortunately for them, it appears they probably won’t have to.
Murphy, who turns 30 on April 1, can become a free agent after the season. He batted .289/.332/.403 with nine home runs, 57 RBI, and 13 stolen bases last season.
