Phillip Humber has been a mess since throwing his perfect game on April 21, making 10 starts with a 7.47 ERA, and the White Sox have placed him on the disabled list with a strained elbow.

Brian Bruney was called up from Triple-A to take Humber’s place on the roster after posting a 1.85 ERA in 34 innings at Triple-A. He’s a 30-year-old veteran of four different MLB teams, but Bruney hasn’t been healthy and effective since 2009 with the Yankees.

J.J. Stankevitz of CSNChicago.com reports that the White Sox may give Bruney, a career-long reliever, a shot in the rotation, although Dylan Axelrod is another option to replace Humber.
