Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes reports that former big leaguer Pedro Guerrero is alert and talking with family two days after a massive stroke. He had been in a medically-induced coma.
Guerrero remains in critical condition and the next few days would be crucial. His doctors are guardedly optimistic, however, given his fitness level for a 60-year-old.
All of this is a stunning reversal following initial CAT scans which showed little to no brain activity immediately after the stroke. Indeed, his wife Roxanna Guerrro called it a “miracle,” saying that “a doctor basically declared him brain dead” on Monday.
