Orlando Hudson completed a brief minor-league rehab assignment last night and is expected to return from the disabled list when eligible Thursday, according to Tom Singer of MLB.com.

Hudson has been out since May 4 with a strained hamstring and didn’t hit much prior to the injury, but had already matched his career-high with 10 stolen bases in just 29 games ... at age 33.

Eric Patterson and Alberto Gonzalez have split time at second base in Hudson’s absence and the Padres are 6-5 with him out of the lineup.
