Orioles ask MLB if Chris Davis can play instructional league games during suspension

Rich Dubroff of CSNBaltimore.com reports that the Orioles have asked MLB if they’re able to send Chris Davis to an instructional league during his 25-game suspension for Adderrall use.

Davis will spend most his suspension at the Orioles’ spring training complex in Florida, but they’re unclear if he’ll be allowed to actually participate in games there with minor leaguers.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter told Dubroff that Davis “has been working out already” and “he gets what’s going on ... he’s not looking for any sympathy.”

Baltimore would like to get him approved for game action--even if it’s only in an instructional league--because adding Davis to the playoff roster mid-postseason is an option once his suspension is over.
