Rodney led the major leagues in saves last year with 48, but he’s taken a nosedive in 2015. Including his disastrous outing Friday against the White Sox, in which he allowed three runs while recording only one out, the 38-year-old right-hander holds a 5.68 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 50 2/3 innings this season.
The #Mariners have DFA’d RHP Fernando Rodney and optioned RHP Danny Farquhar to AAA Tacoma.

Rodney is still owed a bit more money on the two-year, $14 million free agent contract that he signed with the Mariners in February 2014, so he is probably going to pass through waivers without a claim.
