This is the first major league All-Star appearance for Uehara, who boasts a 1.30 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, and 52/6 K/BB ratio in 41 2/3 innings this season as the Red Sox closer. The 39-year-old right-hander also has 18 saves in 19 chances. He was an All-Star eight different times in Nippon Professional Baseball.
