ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports that pitcher Kevin Correia is expected to be granted his release by the Giants on Saturday. The two sides agreed to a minor league deal in early April, which included an opt-out date for June 1.
Correia, 34, has a 3.58 ERA with a 25/11 K/BB ratio in 37 2/3 innings with Triple-A Sacramento. Despite the Giants’ misfortune with injuries within the starting rotation, Correia hasn’t been a consideration for a promotion.
When he is granted his release, Correia will attempt to latch on elsewhere as a free agent. The veteran of 12 seasons, who played for the Twins and Dodgers last year, has a career 4.59 ERA.
