Jurickson Profar’s nightmarish 2014 continues.

The young middle infield prospect showed up to Rangers camp in late February with tendinitis in his right shoulder and was diagnosed with a teres major muscle strain just before Opening Day. He wound up missing the entire 2014 regular season, and now his status for the start of 2015 might also be affected.

Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports that Profar will be shut down for the next 2-3 months due to renewed discomfort in that same shoulder.

There’s no surgery planned yet, but Profar’s usual offseason program is obviously going to have to be altered and he’ll likely remain a question mark when camp opens next spring. The consensus No. 1 prospect in baseball pre-2013, he turns 22 years old next February.
