Some tough news here for the Mets’ bullpen ...
Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that left-handed reliever Josh Edgin has decided to undergo Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery. He’ll miss the entire 2015 season and probably won’t be back to 100 percent until sometime in April or May of 2016.
Edgin’s left ulnar collateral ligament is not torn, but an MRI showed it to be stretched out. A rehab program probably wasn’t going to fix that.
The 28-year-old southpaw posted a shiny 1.32 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 28/6 K/BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings last season for the Mets, who now have a huge hole at left-handed relief.
