Cardinals outfielder Jon Jay is away from the team for tonight’s game against the Cubs due to an undisclosed personal matter, but he’s expected to return for the final series of the regular season that begins Friday in Arizona.
Heading into the season Jay was viewed somewhat as a question mark after a rough postseason and Peter Bourjos’ presence has meant more corner outfield action, but he’s been his usual self offensively by hitting .302 with a career-high .373 on-base percentage in 138 games.
