Before the season started, the Yankees were touted as having the best bullpen in the bigs. Then they lost Pedro Feliciano before he could even get going and then Rafael Soriano (a) pitched poorly; and (b) would up hurt. And things keep getting worse in that department: Joba Chamberlain has been sent to the disabled list with a strained flexor muscle.
Chamberlain will be shut down for the next two weeks before he can even be reevaluated, and is expected to miss three or four weeks. On the season he has a 2.83 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP and 24 strikeouts to 7 walks in 28 2/3 innings of relief.
A tough loss for a Yankees team that doesn’t need to get any thinner in the pitching department.
