From ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick comes word that the Indians have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with veteran reliever Jeremy Accardo.
The deal includes an invatiaton to major league spring training, where Accardo will presumably get a chance to win a spot in the Cleveland bullpen.
The 30-year-old right-hander posted a rough 5.71 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 37 2/3 innings last season for the Orioles, issuing 18 walks against just 23 strikeouts. He hasn’t been the same since 2007, when he had a 2.14 ERA in 67 1/3 innings and converted 30-of-35 save opportunities as the Blue Jays’ closer.
