Geoff Blum has spent most of the second season of a two-year, $2.7 million contract with the Diamondbacks on the disabled list and just revealed via Twitter that he’s being released:
Pretty classy way to announce your own release, although Diamondbacks fans can be forgiven if they don’t have good feelings about Blum after he hit .195 in 40 games while earning $2.7 million.
Later today @Dbacks will announce my release. I am grateful for the opportunity I was given here. #DBacks fans treated me wonderfully.
