Fredi Gonzalez is rejoining the Marlins to serve as the third base coach, MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro reports. Gonzalez coached for the Marlins from 1999-2001, then managed the team from 2006-10. The club went 276-279 (.497) under his leadership.

Gonzalez, 52, was fired by the Braves after a 9-28 start to the 2016 season. Overall, in six seasons managing the Braves, the team put up a 434-413 record with two postseason appearances.

Lenny Harris had been the Marlins’ previous third base coach, but the organization chose not to bring him back along with hitting coach Barry Bonds and bullpen coach Reid Cornelius.
