Fired by the Yankees, Mick Kelleher is retiring

Mick Kelleher was fired as Yankees first base coach two weeks ago and rather than pursuing another job the 67-year-old has decided to retire.

Keller spent 16 total seasons coaching in the Yankees organization, the last six of which have been on the MLB staff.

In addition to serving as first base coach he was also the team’s infield defense instructor, but the Yankees let Kelleher go along with firing longtime hitting coach Kevin Long.
