“Field of Dreams” property in Iowa sold by Lansing family

“Don’t sell the farm, Ray.”

That’s what the character Mark tells Ray Kinsella in “Field of Dreams,” after seeing Shoeless Joe (or his spirit or whatever) for the first time. Well, get this:

According to the Associated Press, via SI.com, the property in Iowa on which that Kevin Costner-starred baseball flick was shot has been sold to a company called Go the Distance Baseball LLC.

Its original owners -- Don and Becky Lansing -- put the house, baseball diamond and surrounding farm land up for sale in May of 2010 at a $5.4 million asking price. The final sale amount was not disclosed.

Go The Distance Baseball, as you might imagine, plans to preserve the set. It still attracts tourists.
