Eduardo Nunez exercises his option to stay with Boston

World Series - Boston Red Sox v Los Angeles Dodgers - Game Three

Eduardo Nunez has exercised his $5 million player option. That’ll keep him with the Red Sox for 2019.

Nunez, who hit just .265/.289/.388 over 127 regular season games in 2018, was going to face an uphill climb to match that kind of pact for next season, let alone to find a better one. Not that Red Sox fans will be sad to see him stay given the big three-run homer he hit in Boston’s World Series Game 1 victory. He’s also a pretty versatile utilityman/insurance policy.
