Duaner Sanchez signs with independent Long Island Ducks

duaner sanchez mets

Duaner Sanchez, who was a solid setup man for the Mets and Dodgers from 2004 to 2008, has signed with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League.

Sanchez’s career was knocked of course when a 2006 car accident left him with a separated shoulder that caused the right-hander to miss the entire 2007 season. He bounced back with a solid year for the Mets in 2008, but then allowed 11 runs in 11 innings for the Padres in 2009 and hasn’t pitched in the majors since.

He’s still just 31 years old, but Sanchez wasn’t particularly effective last season while pitching in the Canadian-American Association and Mexican League.
