After being removed from the 40-man roster Dillon Gee had the right to become a free agent as soon as the regular season ended and he did just that, officially ending his time with the Mets.
Gee was a big part of the Mets’ rotation from 2010-2014 and was slated to fill the same role this year after receiving a $5.3 million salary via the arbitration process. Instead he was booted from the rotation after going 0-3 with a 5.90 ERA and got demoted to the minors, where he continued to struggle for 17 starts without being called back up in September.
Gee finishes his Mets career with a 40-37 record and 4.03 ERA in 679 innings and now the 29-year-old right-hander will go looking for work as a free agent coming off a career-worst season.
