Diamondbacks hire Joe Carter as special assistant

joe carter getty
As announced on the official Twitter account of the Arizona Diamondbacks ...

#Dbacks name @JoeCarter_29 as Special Assistant to the General Manager.

— Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) January 28, 2015

It’s the first front office type of job for Carter, who played for six different teams -- most famously the Toronto Blue Jays -- between 1983-1998. Carter was a .216/.310/.412 hitter in 51 career at-bats against new Diamondbacks general manager Dave Stewart. They were both on Toronto’s 1993 World Series team.

It’s not clear what role exactly Carter will have in Arizona. These special assistant gigs all differ.
