As first reported by Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles traded third baseman Josh Bell to the Diamondbacks on Saturday night for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Bell was a fourth-round pick of the Dodgers in 2005 and has made it twice into Baseball America‘s Top 100 prospect rankings. But he failed to land a spot on the Orioles’ Opening Day roster this spring and was batting just .094/.256/.250 with one homer and eight strikeouts through 39 plate appearances at Triple-A Norfolk.
The Diamondbacks will treat the 25-year-old Bell as organizational infield depth.
