Desmond Jennings to have knee scoped Wednesday

Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings has been on the disabled list since late April with what was originally termed left knee bursitis. There’s been very little in the way of progress over the last several weeks, so beat writer Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times says the Rays will have Jennings undergo a scope of his troublesome left knee Wednesday.

It’s an exploratory procedure designed to find out what exactly Jennings is dealing with. Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash said the 28-year-old could be back in 3-4 weeks if nothing new is discovered.

Jennings has appeared in just 18 games this season for Tampa Bay.

He’s making a $3.1 million salary in his first year of arbitration eligibility.
