Derek Jeter goes 0-for-3 with a walk in return from disabled list

Sidelined since August 2 with a right calf strain, Derek Jeter made his return from the disabled list tonight and went 0-for-3 with a walk in a 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

Jeter grounded out in his first two at-bats, the second of which was a double play ball. The 39-year-old worked a walk in his third plate appearance before striking out swinging in his final at-bat.

Jeter has been limited to just six games this season due to ankle and calf injuries, but he’s capable of providing a nice boost offensively down the stretch if he can stay on the field. Yankees shortstops entered play this evening with a lousy .227/.287/.309 batting line, so the bar hasn’t been set very high.
