For someone who batted just .184 this past season, veteran catcher David Ross is pretty popular right now.
FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal writes that Ross could follow Jon Lester to the Cubs or the Red Sox to serve as his personal catcher once again. However, there are other possibilities out there. According to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic, Diamondbacks general manager Dave Stewart said tonight that Ross is on the club’s radar. He could be a fit for the Padres if Yasmani Grandal gets dealt and a return to the Braves can’t be ruled out.
Ross turns 38 in March and is coming off a rough year, but he still has some pop in his bat, particularly against left-handed pitching. He could be useful playing a couple of games per week.
