Red Sox DH David Ortiz was ejected during tonight’s game against the Orioles after arguing balls and strikes with umpire Tim Timmons. Manager John Farrell had to restrain Ortiz as he shouted at Timmons. After returning to the dugout, Ortiz promptly took out his anger with a baseball bat on the dugout phone. Shards of the bat were ejected in every direction towards Ortiz’s teammates, prompting Dustin Pedroia to confront him.

Pedroia was nearly a victim of Ortiz’s bat shrapnel in the dugout. That was a pretty significant eruption by Ortiz that was nearly costly.

Pedroia got into Ortiz’s face in the dugout after the nutty, likely both about potential suspension and potential to hurt teammates
