Dan Uggla delivered a two-run single to center field in the first inning of Wednesday’s game against the Marlins, extending his hitting streak to 31 games.

He’s matched Rico Carty’s Atlanta Braves record by making it to 31, and he’s overtaken Andre Ethier’s 30-gamer for the longest streak in the majors this season.

Uggla had exactly one hit in each of his previous three games, so he had finished each of the last four games with a batting average right at .220. The single tonight temporarily moved him up to .221.

Uggla has driven in 29 runs during the streak.

10:19 p.m. EDT update: Uggla added another single in the top of the ninth to finish 3-for-5 in the Braves’ 6-2 victory. His average jumped from .220 to .224 with the performance. It’s the highest he’s been at any point this season.
