Dan Uggla stays hot, extends hitting streak to 25 games

His season totals are still incredibly ugly because that’s what happens when you take a .173 batting average into mid-July, but Dan Uggla extended his hitting streak to 25 games this afternoon by going 2-for-4 with a three-run homer.

During the 25-game streak Uggla is now 34-for-96 (.354) with 11 homers, five doubles, and 10 walks, raising his batting average from .173 to .215 and his OPS from .568 to .709.

He ranks sixth among NL hitters with 23 homers, although Uggla also leads the league in errors by a second baseman (12) and ranks fifth in outs made.

Still, it’s a helluva turnaround.
