8:21 p.m. ET: Tonight’s Cubs-Pirates game is currently in a delay after a woman was hit in the back of the head by a foul ball in the top of the second inning.
The accident occurred right behind home plate as the fan appeared to be getting back into her seat. As Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review notes, the ball didn’t go through the netting behind home plate, but the woman was close enough to it that she was still struck. She is currently getting medical attention.
We’ll pass along more information when we have it.
