Left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada is returning to Japan after spending the past two seasons with the Cubs, according to Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker.

Wada spent nearly a decade pitching in Japan before leaving to sign with the Orioles in 2012, but then his career was derailed by injuries. He joined the Cubs in 2013 and logged a total of 102 innings with a 3.36 ERA in two seasons for Chicago, clearly proving he can have success in the majors.

At age 34 he’ll head back to Japan and finish up his career with guaranteed salaries and a multi-year contract, which Wada was unlikely to find in America.
