As first relayed by Mark Bowman, the Braves beat reporter for MLB.com ...

#Braves Minor Lg. catcher Chris O’Dowd (son of former Rockies GM Dan O’Dowd) received a 80-game suspension.

— Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) June 10, 2015

O’Dowd tested positive for “testosterone metabolites of exogenous origin, a performance-enhancing substance,” per a press release from the MLB commissioner’s office. The 24-year-old catcher had been mashing to the tune of a .304/.429/.468 slash line this season at Double-A Mississippi. He batted just .271/.335/.385 in 113 games last season between High-A, Double-A, and the Arizona Fall League.

Dan O’Dowd resigned from his post as the Rockies’ general manager last October, making way for Jeff Bridich, and now serves as an analyst on MLB Network. Wonder if he’ll address this publicly.
