O’Dowd tested positive for “testosterone metabolites of exogenous origin, a performance-enhancing substance,” per a press release from the MLB commissioner’s office. The 24-year-old catcher had been mashing to the tune of a .304/.429/.468 slash line this season at Double-A Mississippi. He batted just .271/.335/.385 in 113 games last season between High-A, Double-A, and the Arizona Fall League.
