Chris Davis is ridiculous

Chris Davis’ insane season continues apace. Today the Orioles’ first baseman -- playing DH -- hit two two-run homers and a ground rule double to collect five RBI as the Orioles trounced the Tigers 13-3 in Detroit.

That’s 26 homers on the season for Davis, including four in his last four games. His season line is up to .337/.413/.720. He’s on pace for 58 homers and 146 RBI. Not bad for a guy who, in this MLB Network video, excerpted from tonight’s episode of “MLB Tonight,” admits to wanting to quit baseball back when he was with the Rangers:

Davis’ teammate Manny Machado and today’s opponent Miguel Cabrera will each have something to say about it, but at the moment, it’s hard not to see Davis as the favorite for the AL MVP.
