Chris Capuano failed to make it out of the first inning in Tuesday’s start and now the Yankees have decided to part ways with the veteran left-hander, designating him for assignment.
Capuano pitched reasonably well for the Red Sox and Yankees last season, but he allowed 26 runs in 31 innings this year while making $5 million.
At age 36 he’s nearing the end of the line, but another team could give Capuano a look as a long reliever and spot starter. He posted a 4.16 ERA from 2010-2014, with a sub-4.60 ERA each year.
