Carlos Gonzalez has resumed most baseball activities four days after being placed on the disabled list, but his injured wrist is still too sore for the Rockies outfielder to begin swinging a bat.

Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports that Gonzalez will rest his wrist for at least another 4-5 days before potentially taking some hacks, noting that he “is feeling less pain in the ligaments and tendons but still has pain in the bone” several weeks after initially injuring the wrist running into an outfield wall.

He’d played through the pain while going just 6-for-28 (.214), but Gonzalez aggravated the injury Thursday during a swing and an MRI exam showed inflamed ligaments. Prior to the injury Gonzalez had turned his season around in a big way, hitting .324 with 12 homers and a .974 OPS in 59 games dating back to May 1, but with the Rockies now 48-55 and 11.5 games out in the NL West there’s no reason to rush him back.
