Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez tweaked his right hamstring while running to first base in the ninth inning last night and Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that he’s now headed to the 15-day disabled list.
Gomez is dealing with a slight “defect” or “tear” in his hamstring and was given a cortisone shot. Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash said that he’ll be reevaluated next week to see if he’ll need to miss more than the minimum 15 days.
Missing Gomez for any length of time is a tough blow for the Brewers, who are off to a disappointing 2-7 start to begin the year and have been struggling offensively. Gerardo Parra figures to see most of the playing time in center field during his absence.
