UPDATE: Bryan Mitchell diagnosed with nasal fracture after being hit in face by comebacker

UPDATE: The Yankees announced that Mitchell was diagnosed with a small nasal fracture and has been released from the hospital, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. He will be monitored for concussion symptoms, but it’s good news under the circumstances.

8:50 p.m. ET: According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, the Yankees announced that Mitchell was taken to NY-Presbyterian Hospital for a full evaluation.

8:07 p.m. ET: Yankees right-hander Bryan Mitchell was forced to exit tonight’s game against the Twins in the top of the second inning after he was in the hit in the face by a ball off the bat of Eduardo Nunez.

It was a very scary scene at Yankee Stadium. Mitchell was still in the follow-though of his pitch and wasn’t able to get his glove up in time. He was on the ground for a moment before walking off the field with a towel covering his face. You can watch video of the incident here.
