Astros right-hander Brad Peacock was bothered by hip problems at the end of the season and recently underwent surgery to remove bone spurs.
General manager Jeff Luhnow told Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle that Peacock is not expected to be ready for the start of spring training in February, which is somewhat noteworthy given that it’s being referred to as a “routine” operation.
Peacock, who was acquired from the A’s as part of the Jed Lowrie/Chris Carter trade in February of 2013, has a 4.90 ERA in 215 innings for the Astros through age 26. He’s managed 196 strikeouts in those 215 frames, but that comes with 107 walks and 35 homers allowed.
