Kole Calhoun and the Angels have avoided arbitration with a one-year, $3.4 million contract, according to Chris Cotillo of SB Nation.
Calhoun requested $3.9 million and the Angels countered at $2.35 million, with the settlement coming in $275,000 more than the midpoint in the player’s favor.
Calhoun was arbitration eligible for the first time following a season in which he won a Gold Glove award and hit .256 with 26 homers and a .731 OPS in 159 games. He’s entrenched as the Angels’ starting right fielder and will be counted on to again provide big-time power given the lack of pop expected to fill left field.
