Alex Rodriguez’s cousin and former personal assistant, Yuri Sucart, pleaded guilty in Miami court to supplying drugs to athletes through the Biogenesis clinic and has been sentenced to seven months in prison.
Here’s more from the Associated Press:U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga also sentenced Yuri Sucart to serve six months of house arrest after his release from prison and imposed a $5,000 fine. He could later be deported to his native Dominican Republic.
Sucart, 53, is the last of eight people to plead guilty for roles in providing steroids to Rodriguez and other athletes through the Biogenesis of America clinic owned by Anthony Bosch. Bosch, who falsely posed as licensed physician “Dr. T,” got the longest prison term at four years.
Rodriguez reportedly cut off all contact with Sucart in 2012 and is back to thriving with the Yankees after being suspended for all of last season, hitting .270 with 11 homers and an .880 OPS in 51 games at age 39.
