A.J. Pollock was having a breakthrough season before he suffered a fractured right hand when he was hit in the hand on a check-swing on Saturday against the Reds. Unfortunately it sounds like he won’t be an option to rejoin the Diamondbacks until sometime in August.
Jack Magruder of FOXSportsArizona.com reports that Pollock had plates and screws inserted into his hand today during surgery. The Diamondbacks don’t expect him to resume baseball activities for eight weeks, which rules him out for all of June and July.
Pollock, 26, was batting .316/.366/.554 with six home runs, 15 RBI, and eight stolen bases in 52 games prior to the injury.
