Miles Mikolas bounced back in impressive fashion on Thursday, hurling 5 2/3 innings of shutout baseball in a victory over the Nationals.
Mikolas scattered two hits and one walk on the evening while racking up six strikeouts. After serving up six home runs against the Cubs his last time out, the Nationals only had one extra-base hit against him in this one — a leadoff double by CJ Abrams. The 36-year-old hurler got 12 whiffs on just 71 pitches on the evening, registering a solid CSW of 32 percent. He finishes the first half with an underwhelming 5-6 record, 4.94 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 66/21 K/BB ratio over 93 innings in his 18 starts.

Miles Mikolas allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs with four strikeouts over six innings in an ugly loss to the Cubs on Friday.
The phrase “taking your lumps” was invented for games like this one. Mikolas gave up four home runs to the first seven batters of the game and six long balls in total. The Cubs teed off on him and there wasn’t a single moment where they didn’t seem comfortable in the box and ready to attack. Mikolas will take an ugly 5.26 ERA into his next scheduled start against the Nationals.

Miles Mikolas allowed six runs in four innings and got a no-decision in the Cardinals’ 9-6 victory over the Guardians on Saturday.
Mikolas gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out five. The Cardinals trailed 6-1 after four innings, but came back to win 9-6. Mikolas continues to be a fantasy non-factor with a 4.76 ERA and just 56 strikeouts in 81 1/3 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the Cubs on the road next weekend.

Miles Mikolas allowed three runs (two earned) in five innings and took the loss against the Reds on Sunday.
Mikolas gave up four hits, walked one and struck out six. The 36-year-old right-hander has allowed more than three runs in just three of his 15 starts this year. Despite that, Mikolas still has just a 4.31 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 77 1/3 innings, limiting him to deep league value at best. Mikolas is lined up to face the Guardians on the road next weekend.

Miles Mikolas threw six innings and allowed two runs against the Brewers on Sunday.
Mikolas notched seven strikeouts, topping his previous season high by one, but he was handed the loss after leaving with the Cardinals down 2-1. He’ll take a 4-4 record and a 4.35 ERA into his next start against the Reds.

Miles Mikolas was hit hard in Tuesday night’s loss to the Blue Jays, giving up six runs on nine hits over his five frames.
The 36-year-old right-hander struck out two batters on the evening and didn’t issue a free pass. The Jays jumped on him early in this one as Andres Gimenez crushed a three-run homer in the opening inning. They then tacked on another run in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth before Mikolas mercifully exited. He got just four whiffs on 83 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of 25 percent. He’ll look to improve upon his 3.96 ERA and 1.27 WHIP when he squares off against the White Sox in Chicago on Tuesday. That will be the ultimate test of a stoppable force meeting a moveable object.

Miles Mikolas yielded three runs and eight hits over six innings in the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader against the Royals.
Mikolas has made 184 starts for the Cardinals since 2018 and allowed three runs and eight hits over six innings in 129 of them. No, not really, but you certainly know what you’re getting at this point. He’s set to face the Jays at home next time through.

Wednesday’s game between the Royals and Cardinals has been postponed due to inclement weather.
Only Mother Nature can keep rookie sensation Jac Caglianone from stepping onto a big-league diamond anymore. Both teams were going to have to endure several hours of waiting out rain showers before an extremely late start, so they’ve decided instead to play a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. Wednesday’s original starting pitchers— Noah Cameron and Miles Mikolas — will presumably take the ball at some point during Thursday’s twin bill at Busch Stadium. Royals ace Cole Ragans (groin) will return from the injured list to start the nightcap affair against Cardinals lefty Matthew Liberatore.

Miles Mikolas allowed nine hits and four runs with three strikeouts over four innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Wednesday.
Mikolas’ disappointing season continued with another dud here. Even after his lineup stormed back to grab him a lead, he couldn’t complete five innings to qualify for the win. He didn’t have a single one-two-three inning and was objectively lucky to only allow four runs. It should be noted that he pitched through steady rain here and visibly wet field conditions. His next start is scheduled to come at home against the Royals.

Miles Mikolas was terrific once again in Friday’s victory over the Diamondbacks, allowing just one run on four hits across his six innings of work.
The veteran right-hander punched out four batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. The only blemish on his day came in the form of a leadoff home run from Ketel Marte to start the fourth inning. Mikolas got just three swings and misses on 81 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. With his impressive run recently, Mikolas now sports a respectable 3.51 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and a 31/16 K/BB ratio over 51 1/3 innings in his first 10 starts. He’ll do battle against the Orioles his next time out in Baltimore on Wednesday evening.
