Giants and OF Mike Yastrzemski avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $9.25 million contract.
With Buster Posey seemingly focused on runs batted in (Yaz’s career high is 71) and getting more athletic, it seemed like Yastrzemski might not be a fit for these Giants. However, since he settled for a $1.35 million raise in his final year before free agency, a deal got done. Yastrzemski’s .302 OBP last season was the worst in his six seasons, but he still managed to put up a 110 OPS+ while playing steady defense in right field.

Mike Yastrzemski went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in a 10-0 win over the Orioles on Tuesday.
Yaz the Younger took Albert Suarez deep in the first inning for his 16th home run on the season. It was a much-needed strong effort after coming into the game hitting just .184 in 11 games in September. The 34-year-old has put up nearly identical numbers in each of the last three seasons, which is impressive consistency but not really great for fantasy purposes.

Mike Yastrzemski went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in the Giants’ 13-2 blowout win over the Brewers.
Yastrzemski broke the game open with a three-run blast off Colin Rea, giving the Giants an eight-run lead in the second inning. He then doubled in the fourth to bring home a fourth run before he was pulled in the seventh with the Giants up by nine runs. Yastrzemski scorched a homer off Trent Thornton to extend the Giants’ lead to 4-2. The outfielder has gone deep 10 times while driving in 40 runs and putting together a respectable — if not necessarily overly impressive — line of .242/.309/.427.

Mike Yastrzemski collected his ninth homer and ninth triple Wednesday as the Giants topped the Nationals 7-4.
Yastrzemski had 88 homers and 13 triples in his career coming into the season, so it’s odd seeing him with nine of each right now. He’s batting .329 with two homers and five triples in his last 22 games, giving him a .248/.318/.446 line for the season. It didn’t seem likely that he’d last after his numbers fell off in 2021 and again in 2022, but he’s been a really solid platoon guy these last two seasons.

Mike Yastrzemski is not in the Giants’ starting lineup for Friday night’s tilt against the Reds.
Yastrzemski will get a breather with opposing left-hander Andrew Abbott toeing the slab for the Reds. Jerar Encarnacion will start in his place in right field and will bat sixth in his Giants’ debut on Friday evening in Cincinnati.

Mike Yastrzemski went 1-for-3 with a run scored on Wednesday against the Athletics.
This was a classic Bay Area pitchers’ duel on a chilly July night. Classic San Francisco. Yastrzemski wound up scoring the only run in this affair but almost put another on the board himself, barely hooking a ball foul in the McCovey Cove. He’s been an acceptable yet boring deep-league bat with eight homers, two stolen bases, and a .247 batting average.
