Marlins re-signed OF Mike Colangelo, INF Drew Niles, OF Jimmy Shanks and INF Jimmy Goelz to minor league contracts.
Colangelo is the only player here with major league experiences. The rest are career minor leaguers. Colangelo, 28, hit .325/.422/.569 in 97 games for Triple-A Albuquerque last season, showing that he still deserves consideration for a bench job in the majors. If not for injuries, he would have had one long ago.

Triple-A Albuquerque’s Mike Colangelo yesterday had his second two-homer game in three days.
The 28-year-old Colangelo is batting .290/.368/.477 in 89 games for Albuquerque. The Marlins aren’t going to add him to their roster, but he wouldn’t be a bad fifth outfielder.

Marlins re-signed outfielder Mike Colangelo to a minor league contract.
Colangelo deserves an invitation to spring training after hitting .293/.365/.503 for Triple-A Albuquerque last season. The 29-year-old might even be a deep sleeper to have some value in NL-only leagues before the end of next season.

Marlins signed outfielder Mike Colangelo to a minor league contract.
Colangelo would have at least turned into a solid reserve outfielder if he could have stayed healthy after being drafted by the Angels in 1997. The 94 games he played in for Triple-A Syracuse last season was the second highest total of his career. He hit fairly well (.281/.375/.413), but the Marlins probably won’t give him much of a chance to make this year’s team as a fifth outfielder.
