The latest batch of cuts from Tigers camp trims their spring training roster to just 41 players. There are some pretty notable inclusions here as both Davis and Palacios have spent time in the majors and projects as viable middle infield options. Del Pozo, Castro and Díaz figure to be up for Detroit as extra bullpen depth sometime this year.

It’s possibly that the deal will include an invite to spring training, but that hasn’t been announced. Del Pozo posted a 3.88 ERA and 66 /16 K/BB ratio over 55 appearances for Triple-A Toledo.

The 29-year-old spent the entire year in Triple-A and posted a 3.88 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 66/16 K/BB ratio over 55 appearances. With the lack of quality lefty relievers, Del Pozo should be able to land a minor league deal this offseason.

Del Pozo was designated for assignment earlier this week, but passed through waivers unclaimed. He’ll give the Tigers some depth at the Triple-A level.

The latest round of cuts from Tigers’ spring training leaves them with 46 players left in big-league camp. Del Pozo has struggled in a pair of Grapefruit League appearances and will now open the regular season in the minors. Short, Clemens and Lester represent organizational infield depth moving forward.

The assignment will take place in Triple-A with Toledo. Del Pozo has been on the COVID-19 list since September 10. He will have a chance to rejoin the Tigers before the season comes to a conclusion.

Del Pozo tested positive for the virus. Drew Carlton will take his spot in the bullpen.

Great news for Del Pozo, who was hit in the chin by a line drive during Monday’s game against the Twins. He needed five stitches and is dealing with a sore jaw, but things could have been much worse. He’s actually scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
