  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
White Sox activated RHP Michael Soroka from the 15-day injured list.
Soroka had been out since mid-July with a shoulder strain. He’ll spent the last nine days pitching in relief after allowing three runs over eight innings in six rehab appearances. Soroka will be a free agent after the season, and one imagines he might have to settle for a minor league contract.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
Making his fifth rehab appearance, Michael Soroka pitched two hitless innings for Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.
Soroka has allowed just one hit in six scoreless innings for Charlotte, so it seems like he’s ready to be activated. He’s missed the last two months due to a shoulder strain.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
Michael Soroka (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.
Soroka has been out of action since the middle of July with a right shoulder strain. He’ll likely need to make a couple of rehab appearances before having a chance to join the White Sox rotation in the middle of September.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
White Sox placed RHP Michael Soroka on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 16, with a right shoulder strain.
No word yet on the severity of the strain or on how long the White Sox expect Soroka to be shelved for. Steven Wilson was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move on Friday to take his place in the team’s bullpen.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
Michael Soroka left Sunday’s game against the Pirates due to shoulder soreness.
Soroka entered the game in the second inning and left after just one pitch in the third, with Chad Kuhl taking his place. The White Sox should have more information soon, but it’s not the best news given Soroka’s long history of injuries.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
Michael Soroka allowed one run on Wednesday against the Twins and was saddled with his 10th loss of the season.
Soroka holds a staggering 0-10 record this season in his White Sox debut after surrendering a go-ahead single to Ryan Jeffers in the seventh inning of Wednesday’s showdown at Guaranteed Rate Field. The 26-year-old righty holds an inflated 5.25 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 71/42 K/BB ratio across 72 innings (21 appearances, nine starts).
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters that Brad Keller will take Michael Soroka’s place in the rotation.
Soroka is moving to the bullpen for now, says Grifol. The 26-year-old has been awful in 2024 with a 24/24 K/BB and 6.39 ERA over nine starts and 43 1/3 innings. Soroka was one of the better young pitchers in baseball not that long ago, but right now it’s very hard to imagine him having fantasy relevancy in the foreseeable future.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
Michael Soroka was tagged for five runs — four earned — in 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Guardians.
Soroka dropped to 0-5 with a 6.39 ERA. The White Sox are 1-8 when he pitches, and oddly enough, the lone win came in his worst performance to date (4 ER in 3 2/3 IP on Apr. 9). Unfortunately, Soroka’s better outings still haven’t been very good. He’s had one quality start, and his K/BB stands at 24/24 after he matched his season high with four strikeouts today. The White Sox have nothing to lose by remaining patient, but Soroka is going to need to do something encouraging soon. While he is out of options, odds are that he’d clear waivers if the team tried to send him down.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
Michael Soroka was charged with four runs (three earned) over five innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Rays.
Soroka gave up three hits, including a two-run homer to Randy Arozarena. He struck out four and also issued four walks. He’ll bring a lackluster 6.34 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 20/23 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings (eight starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Guardians.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #40
Michael Soroka allowed two earned runs and three hits over 4 1/3 innings in the White Sox loss to the Twins.
After a rough stretch of allowing four or more runs in three-straight outings, Soroka has now allowed two earned runs in each of his last two starts. Tuesday’s outing was by no means an impressive one, but it was far better than what he provided earlier this month. Soroka isn’t providing much in the way of innings, getting out of the fifth inning just once in his last starts. He’ll take a 6.48 ERA and 1.62 WHIP into his next outing, which is scheduled for Monday against the Rays.
