Braxton Garrett pitched two hitless innings against Team Israel on Tuesday.
Garrett pitched two innings in his spring debut last week, so it was a little surprising he exited after just 26 pitches today. He again pitched well, although his velocity wasn’t quite as good as last week; his fastball averaged 92.3 mph, which was down from 93.0 on Thursday but still up 1.2 mph from when he was last seen in 2024.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher
Marlins reassigned LHP Thomas White to minor league camp.
White was recently diagnosed with a Grade 1 oblique strain, but he wasn’t likely to make the club anyway. The left-hander does stand a good chance of joining the Marlins at some point in 2026, and his ability to miss bats makes him worth roster consideration whenever that takes place.
  • MIA Pitcher #60
Adam Mazur pitched a pair of hitless innings Monday against the Cardinals.
Mazur hasn’t allowed a hit in three innings this spring. He’s yet to show much upside in striking out just 14% of the batters he’s faced in 14 major league starts, so he’s a fallback option for the Marlins at the moment.
  • MIA Left Fielder #28
Kyle Stowers (hamstring) will begin a running progression soon.
Stowers was able to swing the bat 30 times Sunday, and he also played catch. The 28-year-old has a mild right hamstring strain, and is expected to miss a couple of weeks. He should be ready to roll by Opening Day, but it’s a situation to monitor.
  • MIA Outfield #13
Heriberto Hernández went 1-for-3 and slugged a solo home run on Sunday, helping to power the Marlins to a 3-0 victory over the Nationals in Grapefruit League play.
The 26-year-old outfielder did his damage off of Riley Cornelio in the sixth inning, with his 389-foot (109.6 mph EV) solo shot extending the Marlins’ lead to 3-0. He’s off to a solid start in Grapefruit League action, hitting .250 (3-for-12) with two RBI, two stolen bases and a 3/1 K/BB ratio. He looks poised to secure a bench spot on the Marlins’ Opening Day roster.
  • MIA Outfield #5
Christopher Morel went 1-for-3 with an RBI triple as the Marlins dispatched of the Nationals in Grapefruit League action on Sunday.
Morel opened the scoring in the ballgame as he blasted a run-scoring triple off of Brad Lord in the top half of the first inning. That would be his lone hit in three at-bats on the day. For the spring, the 26-year-old slugger is hitting just .231 (3-for-13) with three RBI and a 4/0 K/BB ratio.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #40
Chris Paddack was excellent in his Grapefruit League debut for the Marlins on Sunday, racking up three strikeouts over two scoreless frames against the Nationals.
Paddack allowed just one hit and one walk on the afternoon. The 30-year-old right-hander piled up 10 swings and misses on 42 pitches on the day — with two or more on four different offerings — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll be locked into a spot in the Marlins’ rotation to start the year and we saw the upside that he can have when going right in the first half of the 2025 season, so perhaps he’s worthy of a late-round flier in deeper mixed leagues.
  • MIA Left Fielder #28
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough told reporters on Sunday that Kyle Stowers (hamstring) has been diagnosed with a mild right hamstring strain and is expected to miss 1-2 weeks.
McCullough noted that “it was a good diagnosis” and that Stowers will start being able to get at-bats on the back fields in a few days. It sounds like the best possible scenario for Stowers given the circumstances. As long as things go according to plan and he avoids any setbacks, Stowers should be ready in time for Opening Day.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher
Marlins’ pitching prospect Thomas White was diagnosed with a Grade 1 oblique strain.
The highly touted 21-year-old southpaw suffered the injury during his Grapefruit League debut. He’s expected to be shelved for the next 3-4 weeks which will end his time in big league camp with the Marlins. White is expected to open the 2026 season at Triple-A Jacksonville, and it wouldn’t be shocking in the slightest to see him make his big league debut at some point during the season.
  • MIA Pitcher #39
Eury Pérez was lit up for four runs and six hits in 1 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Cardinals.
Perez is throwing hard and missing bats, but the results just haven’t really been there since he returned from Tommy John surgery. He had a 4.25 ERA in his 20 starts for the Marlins last season, and he’s given up five runs in 2 2/3 innings to open the spring. It figures to get better, but the combination of a lot of hard contact and a bunch of flyballs isn’t a good one.
