Marlins placed RHP Max Meyer on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 4, with right shoulder bursitis.
Meyer was scheduled to take the ball on Sunday against the Phillies, but that’s not happening. It’s been a turbulent season for the 25-year-old former top prospect as he’s struggled to a lackluster 5.68 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 46/19 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (11 starts) in the big leagues. Even if it winds up being just a minimum stay on the injured list, it’ll likely limit Meyer to just one or two additional outings before the regular season wraps up.

FishOnFirst.com’s Isaac Azout reports Max Meyer is headed to the injured list.
Meyer was slated to take the ball on Sunday against the Phillies, but that doesn’t appear to be happening anymore. No word yet on the specific injury or severity. Even if it winds up being just a minimum stay on the injured list, it’ll likely limit Meyer to just one or two additional outings before the regular season wraps up. The 25-year-old former top prospect has surrendered at least four earned runs in four of his last five outings since August 11 and holds a calamitous 5.68 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 46/19 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (11 starts) this season at the highest level.

Max Meyer was torched for five runs over 5 2/3 innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Nationals.
Meyer surrendered nine hits, including homers to Joey Gallo and Keibert Ruiz, which accounted for the majority of the damage against him. He struck out five and only handed out one free pass, throwing his changeup only 15 percent of the time in this one. The 25-year-old rookie right-hander has a promising future ahead of him, but he’s taking his lumps at the moment, struggling to a lackluster 5.68 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 46/19 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (11 starts). He’ll aim to turn things around on Sunday in a home outing against the Phillies.

Max Meyer allowed five runs -- four earned -- with six strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.
Meyer tossed a clean first inning, then gave up a run on a walk and a base hit in the second. An error would put a runner on second to lead off the third inning before a wild pitch brought the unearned run in to score. Aaron Schunk later took Meyer deep with a solo homer in the fifth. Meyer started the sixth, allowing a single and a walk before he was relieved on the mound. Both inherited runs would come in to score. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 5.44 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 41/18 K/BB ratio across 51 1/3 innings into a start against the Nationals in Miami on Tuesday.

Max Meyer yielded three runs in six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Cubs.
All of runs came in the third, which featured an inside-the-park homer by Pete Crow-Armstrong. Still, even if Crow-Armstrong had been limited to a double or triple on his drive to right, it probably wouldn’t have prevented the three-run inning. Meyer will face the Rockies in Coors Field next time out, making him a weak play. He’d be worth rostering if he pitched for a contender, but it’s hard to recommend him on a team playing for 2026 or ’27.

Max Meyer allowed four runs with three strikeouts over four innings in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.
Meyer’s second stint in the majors hasn’t gone quite as well as his first. He’s allowed at least three runs in all five starts since rejoining the Marlins in late July. He surrendered four to the Mets on Saturday, starting with solo home runs by Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso. Jesse Winker drove in a third run with a single in the third inning. Mark Vientos later extended the lead with a double in the fourth. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.58 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and a 33/12 K/BB ratio across 40 1/3 innings. He’s currently lined up for a start against the Cubs in Miami on Friday.

Max Meyer allowed four runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Padres on Sunday.
Meyer had held the Padres to just one run on an RBI groundout through five innings; however, he allowed two runs on two hits in the sixth inning and then allowed two hits, including an RBI double, in the seventh before being pulled from the game. The 25-year-old fading late isn’t shocking since the Marlins have been actively limiting his innings all season, and that has perhaps contributed to Meyer struggling since being recalled, allowing 17 earned runs on 26 hits in 19 1/3 innings in four starts. He’s a risky streamer next week even in a game against the Mets.

Max Meyer allowed six runs in four innings and took the loss against the Reds on Tuesday.
Meyer gave up eight hits, walked three and struck out two. He’s allowed 10 runs in his last two starts. Meyer allowed two runs through the first three innings and then was done in by a four-run fourth inning. He has a 5.10 ERA, but his 4.24 xFIP suggests there will be better starts in his future. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Padres at home this weekend.

Max Meyer allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss against the Braves on Thursday.
Meyer gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out seven. He had trouble in the first inning as he allowed a solo home run to Austin Riley. Then, after a single by Marcell Ozuna, he gave up a two-run home run to Matt Olson. Meyer was able to settle in after that, though the damage was already done. He has a 3.81 ERA in five starts for Miami this year. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Reds at home next week.

RHP Max Meyer will start Thursday against the Braves.
Meyer has a 3.00 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 17 strikeouts in 21 innings over four starts for Miami. He could be a streaming option for desperate fantasy managers in deeper formats given the difficult matchup on the road against Atlanta.
