Bleu Jays re-signed C Max McDowell to a minor league contract.
Toronto picked up McDowell in a mid-September swap with the Phillies and will keep him around for the 2024 season as extra catching depth at Triple-A Buffalo. The 29-year-old backstop has yet to ascend to the big leagues.

Blue Jays acquired C Max McDowell from the Phillies for cash considerations.
McDowell provides the Blue Jays with some extra catching depth in the upper minors moving forward. The 29-year-old backstop has yet to reach the majors.
  • Relief Pitcher #60
Phillies reassigned RHP Louis Head, LHP Ben Bowden and C Max McDowell to minor league camp.
Head and Bowden figure to get a chance sometime this season for the Phillies when the need arises for some additional bullpen reinforcements.

  • FA Catcher #82
Phillies signed C Max McDowell to a minor league contract.
The 28-year-old backstop spent the past two seasons in the Yankees organization, most recently slashing .193/.293/.278 with a pair of homers and 16 RBI in 215 plate appearances at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He’s nothing more than minor league catching depth for the Phillies.

  • ARI Relief Pitcher #18
Yankees assigned RHP Shelby Miller and Cs Rob Brantly, David Freitas and Max McDowell to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
No real surprises among this batch of cuts for the Yankees. Miller, 31, appeared in just one Grapefruit League contest, recording one strikeouts and allowing one hit in his long inning of work. He’ll function as additional pitching depth at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to begin the season.

  • TB Catcher #30
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Ben Rortvedt (oblique) is unlikely to make any additional Grapefruit League appearances this spring.
Rortvedt has been sidelined by a minor oblique strain this spring and appears extremely unlikely to be ready in time for Opening Day next week. That means Kyle Higashioka, who has homered five times this spring, will likely be behind the plate to open the season with either Rob Brantly, David Freitas or Max McDowell as his caddy.
