Padres INF prospect Max Ferguson went 4-for-5 with two triples and two stolen bases on Tuesday for Low-A Lake Elsinore.
Ferguson also scored four runs and drove in a pair for good measure. With the pair of steals, the 2021 fifth-round pick already has an unrealistic 46 steals in 60 games, while he’s tripled five times in 223 at-bats. As made obvious by those numbers, Ferguson has plus-plus speed, and he’s a very patient hitter as seen in his .401 on-base percentage. There are concerns about the power, and it’s worth pointing out that at the age of 22 -- 23 in August -- Ferguson is not one of the younger players in the Cal League. Still, the speed is impressive, and he’s got a chance to be fantasy relevant in the next couple of years if he can get on at a high enough clip.
