Ramsey had been designated for assignment and will be cut loose even after he cleared waivers. The 29-year-old made one scoreless appearance for the Halos.

They needed to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster for John Curtiss, and Ramsey was the odd-man out. The Angels are hopeful that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as bullpen depth at Triple-A.

Ramsey made just one relief appearance during his short stay with the Halos. Luke Bard has been called up in a corresponding 25-man roster move and will be available out of the bullpen on Friday night.

Ramsey registered a 1.99 ERA, 1.059 WHIP, and 29/9 K/BB ratio in 22 2/3 innings this summer in the Marlins’ organization, topping out at Double-A Jacksonville. The 27-year-old right-hander could work his way into the Milwaukee bullpen at some point in 2017.

Ramsey, who was acquired from the Rays last July for international bonus pool money, compiled a 1.47 ERA with 11.7 K/9 and 4.4 BB/9 across 44 appearances at the Double-A level in 2014. The 25-year-old could be a bullpen option before long.

The Halos have struggled to get quality and consistency out of their bullpen this season, so they’ve been forced to churn through fresh arms. Matt Ramsey is the next man up, though don’t expect his stay in Los Angeles to last long. He’ll function in middle relief.

Ramsey posted a sharp 2.30 ERA and 54/16 K/BB ratio in 47 innings of relief this past season with the Triple-A affiliate of the Astros. The 29-year-old right-hander will be in the running for a spot in the Angels’ Opening Day bullpen next spring.

The 29-year-old was trying to snare a bullpen job with the big league team but will have to prove his worth in the minors to start the season. He spent last year with the Astros’ Triple-A team, notching a 2.30 ERA and 54/16 K/BB ratio in 47 innings of relief. He has yet to make his major league debut.

Ramsey had an outstanding 1.47 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 61 1/3 innings this past season at the Double-A level. He is now protected from the Rule 5 Draft.

Ramsey, 28, put up 27 saves with a 3.65 ERA and 58/18 K/BB ratio over 44 1/3 innings with the Brewers’ Double-A affiliate in 2017. He has never pitched in the majors.
